Day 2 - September 29, 2002
The Hammer starts to take structure.

The Hopkins on the job
John and Bill Hopkins prepare one of the ladder sections of the hammer.

Would Norm Abrahms have approved this?
Team members Foley and Howard took much of the morning work session deciding the correct positioning of this nut and bolt.

Howard on the job
Or should we say leaning on the job...

Where should be put the bookcase?
John Howard and Rich Foley prepare to lift of the ladder base.

Master driller goes in reverse?
Rich Foley proves you can drill a hole, even in reverse!!!

Another bookcase
We need some books for these bookcases, perhaps one on the proper position of a drill.

Bill Hopkins
Young Bill Hopkins after a rough night on the town.

Bryan Riley
Riley in pregame face received a lot of instruction and supervision from John Howard.

The John Howard way...
Like his mentor John Howard, Bryan Riley takes a quick relaxation break.

John Hopkins
Team member Hopkins is still questioning Foley's counterwieght box calculations. "Quite frankly, I don't think that thing will hold a pumpkin, let alone 36 bags of concrete", Hopkin's said.

What do we do next?
The team waits for its next challenge...

The box that will hold 2,000 lbs
In a rare working moment, John Howard climbs a ladder to drill a hole.

"Fire in the Hole"
Young Bill Hopkins protects his head as John Howard applies the metal strapping to the 2,000 lb box.

The completed box!!!
What a box that will hold 2,000 lbs should look like!!!

Front door or trap door?
John Hopkins applies the metal bracket holding the Hammer's front loading door.

The box of boxes!!!
Everything hinges on this box....

A teenagers worst nightmare!!!
Team teens will be getting used to climbing the Hammer's ladders!!!

Exercise time...
Teen member Bryan Riley took time to do sit ups in preparing for the ladder climb. What dedication!!!

PumpkinHammer Signs
Team member Jim Riley's outstanding logo design is ready to go on the Hammer!!!

Howard's End
John Howard, exhausted from a tool trip to his car, takes a break by leaning on the hammer's box.

To be continued...

Tim "Axel" Foley on the Lathe
While his teammates were busy on the East coast, "Axel" Foley, seen here, was working on the counterweight shaft. Rumor also has it that Tim had time to put out a few fires at work...

Nothing like a bronzed bushing...
Seen here are the bronzed bushings and shaft locks that will help PumpkinHammer acheive it's 1,000 foot throws. "These puppies will do the job, it's the 2,000lb Box that I'm concerned about", says Axel.

The Axel that will bring PumpkinHammer to the promise land
Here lies the 200lb shaft that PumpkinHammer will use to destroy the competition. It was rumored that Rich Foley once used a tree branch as an shaft. Could it be true? More on this story...

The large shaft of PumpkinHammer
No trebuchet has ever seen a finer shaft.

Finished Bushings
PumpkinHammer's bronze bushings are seen here being finished.

SHAFT, he's one bad ...
PumkinHammer's shaft going through one more finishing. That's one mean shaft...

Shaft Lock sizing
Seen here, the shaft locks are being sized to accomodate PumkinHammer's large shaft.

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS!!! Bombshell hits Team PumkinHammer
Newly released photos show that PumpkinHammer team captain once entered this "contraption" in the 1998 World Pumpkin Chuckin championships. Foley was unavailble to answer our calls, but through sources has denied any involvement.

BOMBSHELL PHOTOS!!! Move over Senator Torrecelli, Rich Foley has some explaining...
The photo that rocked the pumpkin chuckin world has been released. Although originally denying any involvement with the Cobra project, recently found photos clearly identify PumpkinHammer captain Rich Foley as the developer of this "hurler".

"I admit it, it was all Rich Foley's idea, he lied to all of us that Cobra could throw a 1,000 feet", said John Hopkins, former Team member of Cobra.

"I gave Foley a lot of money, and this is what I have to show for it", said David Chang.
